Certification
The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certifies medical laboratory professionals in four disciplines: general medical laboratory technology, diagnostic cytology, clinical genetics and medical laboratory assistant.
In order to become certified, one must successfully pass the national certification examination. Internationally educated medical laboratory technologists must establish eligibility to challenge the examination through a process called prior learning assessment.
To qualify members for senior positions and recognize the increased knowledge they need to advance in their careers, CSMLS also offers advanced certification (ART).
